First Processing/Deboning Supervisor
Summary:
Responsible for all activities involved in slaughtering, eviscerating, deboning, and trimming turkeys, and scheduling production to meet the needs of internal and external customers. This includes ensuring a safe, well-organized, efficient operation with minimum downtime; strictly adhering to standards and procedures; complying with the department HACCP Plan and providing for HACCP recordkeeping; and assigning, training and monitoring staff in accordance with company policies and government regulations.

Primary Responsibilities:
·Coordinate slaughter, evisceration, deboning, and trimming operations in conjunction with team members to:
1)Schedule work to produce raw materials for the Cut &
Bone, Fresh Meats, Packaging, Tray Pack, and Liverpool
Teams.
2)Maintain quality standards of products.
3)Maintain department performance within standards for
efficient utilization of human resources, fresh meats,
and materials.
4)Maintain and report production-related information
regarding yields, efficiencies, and labor utilization
to the Plant Manger and President.
5)Organize and maintain raw product inventory, rotating
and/or freezing product within age-of-meat guidelines.
6)Provide for the cleaning and sanitation of equipment.
7)Seek new opportunities for continuous improvement in
materials and processes.
·Ensure that all production processes and products adhere to GMP standards and are in
compliance with the company’s HACCP Plan.
·Ensure equipment and work areas are appropriately maintained and operating continuously and efficiently by maintenance staff and outside vendors, in consultation with the Maintenance Team Leader and Plant Manager.
·Review and update existing product standards and procedures.
·Provide input to departmental budget preparation; ensure adherence to approved budget.
·Establish and maintain appropriate working relationships with other management personnel and USDA representatives. Serve as liaison with other processing departments and Marketing to exchange information and coordinate workflow.
·Keep abreast of current turkey processing technologies and systems.
·Ensure compliance with USDA, OSHA, EEO, and other appropriate government regulations.
·Perform other related responsibilities, as needed, to support Plainville Farms business objectives.
Supervisory responsibilities:
·Mentor and motivate team members, providing training and development to optimize their performance and personal growth.
·Communicate performance standards to team members, recognizing and rewarding individual and team accomplishments and counseling performance problems.
·Communicate standards and ensure compliance with company procedures, GMP’s, and safety practices.
·Facilitate team meetings including team member training.
Qualifications:
·Associate’s degree or equivalent in experience
·3 – 5 years proven supervisory experience in poultry processing
·Ability to organize, plan, and complete work in a timely fashion
·Willingness to learn and perform all of the jobs in the department
·Strong interpersonal skills; ability to communicate and work effectively with a variety of people
·Ability to work towards and motivate others to work towards an environment of continuous improvement
·Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
·Stand and walk for 90% of workday
·Ability to lift 40 lbs.
